The Centre for Textile Science and Technology (2C2T) at the University of Minho is proud to announce that Andrea Zille, Helena Felgueiras, and Raúl Fangueiro have once again been recognized among the World’s Top 2% Scientists, according to the 2026 update of the prestigious ranking developed by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier.
This internationally recognized ranking identifies researchers with significant scientific impact across a wide range of disciplines, based on standardized citation indicators derived from the Scopus database. The assessment considers several metrics, including citation impact, h-index, and authorship position, and provides two complementary perspectives on scientific influence: career-long impact, reflecting cumulative scientific contributions, and single-year impact, assessing citation performance during 2025.
In the 2026 update, 67 researchers affiliated with the University of Minho are included in the single-year impact ranking, while 42 appear in the career-long impact ranking, highlighting the institution’s international scientific visibility and contribution to research across multiple disciplines.
The recognition of Andrea Zille, Helena Felgueiras, and Raúl Fangueiro in both rankings reflects the consistency and international relevance of their scientific contributions. In the single-year impact assessment, Raúl Fangueiro ranks 62,467th worldwide, Helena Felgueiras 84,176th, and Andrea Zille 94,870th. Their career-long impact is also recognized, with Raúl Fangueiro ranked 131,405th, Andrea Zille 233,365th, and Helena Felgueiras 369,003rd worldwide.
Beyond their overall worldwide positions, their standing within their respective scientific subfields is particularly noteworthy, with all three researchers ranking among the top 0.7% in their areas of expertise: Andrea Zille in Polymers (top 0.68%), Helena Felgueiras in Biomedical Engineering (top 0.46%), and Raúl Fangueiro in Materials (top 0.41%). These results, based on the single-year assessment excluding self-citations, further highlight their international scientific impact within their respective fields.
The continued inclusion of these three researchers in both rankings highlights the international visibility, scientific excellence, and sustained impact of 2C2T’s research in textile science, advanced materials, functional textiles, and related technologies. Their recognition reflects the Centre’s contribution to advancing knowledge and strengthening its presence within the international scientific community.
Beyond individual achievements, this recognition reinforces 2C2T’s position as an internationally recognized research centre, committed to fostering scientific collaboration, promoting innovation, and developing research with meaningful industrial and societal relevance. It also contributes to strengthening the University of Minho’s international reputation for research excellence.
Congratulations to our researchers on this outstanding achievement!
